CHICAGO (AP) - Authorities say one person died after a van collided with an empty Chicago Transit Authority bus on the city’s South Side.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1f332hY ) the crash happened just before 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say the van had three people inside when it slammed into the bus and burst into flames. The van’s driver died at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. His name hasn’t been released.

The other two passengers were in serious-to-critical condition. And the bus driver, the only person on board at the time of the crash, was taken to the hospital in fair-to-serious condition.
