OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the prison sentence of a 19-year-old man convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 35-year-old man.
The court handed down the ruling Wednesday in the case of Schiavone Anderson. Anderson was found guilty by a jury in Muskogee County that recommended the he serve life in prison, but a judge suspended all but 20 years of the sentence.
Anderson was convicted in connection with the shooting death of Roshun English on Nov. 11, 2011. Authorities say Anderson and three co-defendants robbed English, beat him and took his wallet and cellphones before he was shot to death.
His attorney, William H. Luker of the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System, says he has not seen the court’s decision and declined comment.
