DETROIT (AP) - A man convicted of strangling a suburban-Detroit neighbor while robbing her has received the mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.

Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Ulysses Boykin sentenced 43-year-old Myron Williams on Wednesday.

Before the sentencing, Williams said he got “no justice” and was “railroaded” from the day he was arrested.

A prosecutor read a letter in court from Verona Gianino, who says she wishes Michigan had a death penalty so Williams could pay for the death of her only daughter, Sabrina Gianino.

A jury found Williams guilty March 27 of first-degree murder and unarmed robbery.

The 35-year-old Gianino was found dead last May in Grosse Pointe Park, just east of the Detroit city limit. Williams was staying with a relative who lived next door to Gianino.
