BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is heaping praise on Hillary Rodham Clinton, saying she would “make a great president.”
Asked Wednesday about a possible Clinton run for the White House in 2016, Patrick called the former secretary of state, U.S. senator and first lady “a phenomenal person and a phenomenal politician.”
During the 2008 campaign, Patrick notably backed then-candidate Barack Obama over Clinton in the Democratic campaign for president, at one point joining Obama during a rally on Boston Common.
Patrick’s comments come as Clinton visits Boston to speak at the Simmons Leadership Conference, a women’s leadership forum.
Clinton has not said whether she will run for president in 2016.
She has traveled widely after leaving the State Department to give speeches to industry groups, college students and others.
