BRYANT, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Education Commissioner Tom Kimbrell is interviewing to become the next superintendent of the Bryant School District.

Kimbrell met with school board members in executive session Monday night, but the board took no action after wrapping up the interview shortly before midnight.

Kimbrell is one of six people who applied for the job after the resignation of former Superintendent Randy Rutherford.

Kimbrell has led the Arkansas Department of Education since 2009. Previously, he served as superintendent of school districts in Paragould and North Little Rock. Kimbrell tells the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/QCgkGu ) that the school board was well-prepared and asked him “student-centered questions.”
