SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - The Spokane City Council decided Monday night to put off an advisory vote on whether serving on the council should be a full-time job.

Council President Ben Stuckart said the vote would interfere with two bond measures on the November ballot to improve city streets and parks.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://bit.ly/1hkwzxK) the discussion about making council service a full-time job was prompted by the Salary Review Commission’s approval of a 4 percent pay boost. Annual pay for six council members will rise next year to $31,200 and the council president will be paid $57,200.
