SOUTH BURLINGTON (AP) - The state of Vermont is planning informational sessions at a South Burlington hotel to help workers laid off from the state’s IBM plant.

Two sessions are planned for Thursday at the Doubletree hotel on Williston Road in South Burlington.

The U.S. Department of Labor has determined that some of the workers laid-off by IBM and some of the company’s contract workers are eligible to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance.

The program helps workers who have lost their jobs because of foreign trade.

For Thursday’s session, the Vermont Department of Labor will have presentations on the specific benefits available to eligible workers.

Staff will also be available to meet individually with the workers to help them complete paperwork and set up meetings for follow-up services.
