SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - The Sioux City Council has given its final approval to changing the ordinance that bars pit bulls from inside city limits.
The council voted 5-0 on Monday in favor of the proposal. The proposal lets the city manager give exemptions to licensed Sioux City animal rescue agencies. It lets the agencies hold the pit bulls in their facilities for up to 90 days.
Noah’s Hope had requested the exemption. It says it doesn’t intend to keep pit bulls in the city. It plans to seek approval for volunteers to haul pit bulls from foster homes outside city limits to veterinarians, pet stores and adoption events inside Sioux City.
