The committee overseeing Democratic House races out-earned its Republican counterpart in the first quarter of 2014, reporting more than $40 million in the bank at the end of March.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) reported raising $10,340,790 in its latest filing with the Federal Election Commission this week. The majority of contributions came from donors giving $200 or less, totaling $3.8 million. Another $3.7 million came from donors giving over $200 and $2.5 million came from PACs and other committees, with $187,800 from joint fundraising committees.
The DCCC reported spending a total of $4,511,496 in March, with $591,491 in independent expenditures opposing Republican David Jolly in the special election in Florida’s 13th House district.
Republicans ended the month with $31.1 million in cash on hand, compared to the Democrats’ $40.2 million.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) reported receipts of $9.8 million with $1.2 million in donations from contributors giving $200 or less, $3.7 million from those giving $200 or more, $1 million from joint fundraising committees, and $3.7 million from PACs.
The NRCC spent a total of $3,491,151 in March, with $120,750 in independent expenditures against Democratic candidate Alex Sink, Mr. Jolly’s opponent the the Florida special election. The committee also spent $90,750 in support of Mr. Jolly’s successful campaign.
Both the DCCC and the NRCC reported finishing the month with zero debt.
