FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Francis Richard Moore, father of filmmaker Michael Moore, has died at age 92.
Michael Moore announced his father’s death on his Facebook and Twitter pages, calling Francis Moore “a very special person in my life.”
The elder Moore died Saturday in Escondido, Calif., but was a native of Flint and a General Motors assembly line worker there for 35 years.
Known as Frank, he fought with the Marines during World War II. He married Veronica Wall of Davison, where they raised their three children. She died in 2002.
An obituary on the website of Allen Funeral Home in Davison says Moore was a member of the United Auto Workers union and an active parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church in Davison, where his funeral mass will be held Friday.
