DALLAS, Ga. (AP) - People watching the effort to create a second commercial airport in the Atlanta region have their chance to weigh in to federal authorities.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Federal Aviation Administration is taking comments for 30 days (https://bit.ly/1icwkVQ). People can suggest what federal authorities should study during an environment assessment of the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport’s commercial operating certificate and related expansion.

Paulding County residents opposed to commercialized flights at Silver Comet Field northwest of Atlanta have filed several legal challenges against the proposal. The environmental assessment is the result of a settlement to one of those challenges.

A public meeting is planned when the draft report is complete.
