CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A Charlotte man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after being convicted of killing a man nearly four years ago.

Twenty-nine-year-old James Currie was sentenced Monday after being convicted of first-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Currie made a deal in 2010 to buy a gun from another man in Charlotte. Prosecutors say Currie was upset when the man failed to deliver the gun or return the money.

Prosecutors say Currie shot 28-year-old Brooks Crist, a friend of the man Currie had been dealing with.

Prosecutors say Currie fled to New York, where he was arrested for another death. He is serving a 25 year sentence for that death and will then be sent to North Carolina for the life sentence.
