SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Authorities say a bomb squad from the San Francisco Police Department has been sent to the Presidio after a pickup truck was pulled over with possible explosives in the back.

The San Francisco Chronicle (https://bit.ly/1my9rnA ) reports that U.S. Park Police pulled over the pickup Monday night near Crissy Field in the Presidio, the former military base that is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Park police Lt. Pamela Smith says officers smelled marijuana, and the driver said he had fireworks in the back of the truck, but police could not determine they were fireworks or some other explosives.

Park police spokeswoman Alexandra Picavet says part of the Presidio has been closed and evacuated while the bomb squad evaluates the truck and its contents.
