HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Police say a 2-month old Hartford girl sent to the hospital a week ago after an alleged assault at the hands of her father has died.
Police say the baby died at 4 a.m. Tuesday at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Officers responded to a Hartford home on April 15 for reports of an unresponsive baby.
The baby’s father, 32-year-old Marcus Rooks of Manchester, was charged the next day with first-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. His bond was set at $1 million.
Investigators say he became angry at the baby’s crying and threw her head first into her bassinet.
An autopsy is scheduled, and depending on the findings, Rooks could face additional charges.
