ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Police say a tire came off an SUV, causing the vehicle to crash and kill two women inside the vehicle near Indianapolis.

Zionsville police say a Ford Explorer lost its right rear wheel due to lug nuts not being tightened, crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on.

Police identified the victims as 30-year-old driver Mika Baird and 31-year-old Lesley Martinez, both of Indianapolis. WRTV-TV and WTHR-TV report the driver of the other vehicle wasn’t injured.

The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of 96th Street and Zionsville Road on Indianapolis’ northwest side.
