MORGAN, Vt. (AP) - The commissioner of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation says officials are preparing a letter to respond to concerns about the quality of water in a Northeast Kingdom lake.

Commissioner David Mears says he expects the letter addressing concerns raised by members of the Seymour Lake Association will be ready by the end of the week.

Some of members of the association held a news conference in Morgan on Monday to discuss their decision to file a lawsuit, after what members say has been six years of “fruitless discussions and inaction.”

Many of the 125 members of the association say the water quality in Lake Seymour has deteriorated since a new dam was installed in 2004.
