According to a probable cause affidavit, Portwood, a special education teacher, persisted in having a relationship with the student even when he told the 30-year-old teacher he didn’t want to be involved with her.
Officials say the student in the case is not in special education classes.
Princeton school district Superintendent Philip Anthony says Portwood has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
Jail records did not list an attorney for Portwood.
