Is the nation ready for a female president? Rep. Marsha Blackburn says it is, but it won’t be former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Asked by Larry King whether the nation is ready to elect a female president, Mrs. Blackburn, Tennessee Republican, said “Absolutely, but I don’t think it’s going to be Hillary Clinton.”
“I think that this is the year when the status quo in the 2016 presidential elections — I don’t think that the status quo is going to fare very well, Larry,” Mrs. Blackburn recently said during an appearance on “Larry King Now” on Ora TV. “I think that what people are looking for is leadership that is going to listen. I think they want some things to be done differently. And they’re looking for action-based, results-oriented leadership.”
Mrs. Clinton is viewed as the odds-on favorite to win the Democratic nomination for president in 2016 and leads most polls by wide margins over her potential Democratic competitors. She also leads likely GOP rivals in hypothetical general election match-ups.
