HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - An Ohio woman has pleaded guilty to embezzling $150,000 from a government-subsidized apartment complex in West Virginia.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says 51-year-old Connie Lynn Whitley of South Point, Ohio, entered her plea Monday in federal court in Huntington. She faces up to 10 years in prison when she is sentenced July 28.

Whitley managed the Uptowner Inn’s public housing apartments in Huntington. The U.S. Department for Housing and Urban Development provided federal funds to pay a portion of the market rent at the apartments for qualifying tenants. Goodwin says that between the summer of 2009 and September of 2013, Whitley wrote checks to herself from the apartments’ HUD accounts.
