RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A new conservative-leaning advocacy group in North Carolina plans to promote recent Republican policies in state government while challenging criticism from Democrats and their allies who’ve opposed the GOP agenda.
The nonprofit group called Carolina Rising announced its formation Monday. Its chief organizer is Dallas Woodhouse, the former North Carolina state director of Americans for Prosperity.
The organization will highlight Republican legislation in Raleigh that Woodhouse says has helped turned around the state’s economy and put more people to work. He says Carolina Rising also will encourage similar policies and scrutinize what liberal ideas would do to the state’s progress.
The group plans to use social and electronic media heavily to engage citizens. Carolina Rising is not required by law to release donor names or amounts.
