SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - A man wanted on a charge of assisting a criminal in the shooting death of a 2-year-old South Bend boy has turned himself in.

St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Lt. David Wells issued a statement Monday saying 23-year-old Xavier Primm has turned himself in to authorities in Decatur, Ill. Wells said investigators were en route to interview Primm.

Primm was the last of eight men sought in connection with a gunfight between rival gangs that police say led to a stray bullet striking John Swoveland Jr. while he played outside a South Bend home on April 9.

Court records didn’t list an attorney for Primm.

Two 19-year-old men are charged with murder and a 15-year-old was charged with aiding in murder. The others were charged with assisting a criminal.
