LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police say an officer was injured in a traffic collision involving a patrol unit and three other cars.

City News Service reports the crash happened Sunday afternoon at an intersection in the Northridge area.

Sgt. William Kelly says the officer was responding to an emergency call when the cruiser was struck by an Audi sedan.

The Audi spun out and hit two other vehicles. Five people were evaluated at the scene and released. The officer and a 6-year-old girl who had been in the Audi were transported to a hospital. The girl was not injured and released.

Officials say the officer is in fair condition with a knee injury.
