GENEVA, Ill. (AP) - Preliminary autopsy results show a Bloomington man drowned during a weekend kayaking accident in northern Illinois.

The Kane County coroner says 26-year-old Dinesh Sudhakar-Uckoo was in a kayak on the Fox River near Geneva on Saturday when the boat went over a dam. Sudhakar-Uckoo was pulled from the water about two hours later and pronounced dead at the scene. The second man was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.

A preliminary autopsy found the cause of death was drowning pending toxicology results.

Authorities say the two were in Geneva with a group of friends for the kayaking trip. No one else was injured.

The coroner’s office is investigating along with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police.

Geneva is about 35 miles west of Chicago.
