NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Army Corps of Engineers will close a portion of Prytania Street in uptown New Orleans beginning Monday for about a year while a drainage culvert is installed.

An Army Corps spokesman says the heavily trafficked roadway will be closed at Joseph Street in both directions. Traffic will be diverted to Nashville Avenue.

The work is part of a larger flood control project that is expected to be completed in 2018.
