DETROIT (AP) - The brother-in-law of a man attacked by a Detroit mob says he’s struggling after nearly three weeks in a hospital.
Max Mohr says Steve Utash is awake but disoriented and at times thinks he’s a train conductor. He says the 54-year-old Utash tried to walk with the help of nurses but lasted only a few steps.
Mohr spoke Monday outside a Wayne County courthouse after four men were ordered to stand trial in the beating. They’re charged with attempted murder.
Utash was attacked April 2 after stopping to help a 10-year-old boy who was accidentally struck by Utash’s pickup truck on Detroit’s east side.
