ST. LOUIS (AP) - A student sit-in over Washington University’s ties to coal company Peabody Energy is approaching its third week at the St. Louis campus.

The student protesters want the school to remove Peabody CEO Greg Boyce from the university’s board of trustees. They also want the university to rename is Consortium for Clean Coal Utilization, a research effort financially supported by the St. Louis-based company.

Protest organizers say they anticipate an administrative response to their demands on Monday. They held a weekend rally outside the university’s main administration building on Saturday that organizers say drew several hundred participants.

The university has defended its involvement with the research effort. Administrators say the school supports efforts to develop cleaner alternative fuels.
