PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Canadian tourism officials and the operators of the Nova Star ferry from Maine to Nova Scotia will focus the ship’s marketing efforts on Boston.

The Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/1i8qggO ) reported Monday that the Nova Scotia Tourism Agency and Nova Star Cruises both consider the bigger media market the target for the ferry.

Nova Star Cruises Spokesman Dennis Bailey called Boston “the bulls-eye” for ferry advertising efforts. The tourism agency plans to run ads in the Boston Herald and Boston Globe as well as on billboards in the city.

Bailey says Boston is the target because of the city’s high median household income.

The ferry is due to be christened in Boston May 12. The ferry’s maiden voyage from Portland to Nova Scotia is slated for May 15.
