PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A four-car crash on Interstate 295 in Portland left three people injured and backed up traffic for more than hour.

The crash occurred late Monday morning in the southbound lane of the interstate near exit 5A. Police told the Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/1rfnQCB) that the accident occurred when Ardo Amir, 57, of Portland, attempted to re-enter the highway from the exit’s off-ramp. His car was struck by a car driven by Katharine Bavoso, 23, of New Jersey.

Police said Jason MacLean, 41, of South Portland, hit a car driven by Travis Bean, 41, of West Gardiner while trying to drive around the accident. Police said MacLean, Bavoso and Amir were taken to Maine Medical Center for injuries.
