HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Hattiesburg police say they’re still investigating a shooting last month at the Islamic Center of Hattiesburg.

Lt. Jon Traxler tells The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/RBCnOP ) that investigators haven’t made any arrests, but the investigation remains open.

Nobody was in the center when bullets were fired into several walls, windows and doors late March 18.

The center’s Jerry Buti says police are analyzing a bullet removed from one wall.

He says a volunteer from a local glass company fixed the damaged windows. He says the volunteer wants to remain anonymous.

On April 4, the University of Southern Mississippi’s Faculty Senate unanimously approved a resolution condemning the shooting.

President-elect Bob Press says the senate wanted to raise awareness of the incident because many people in the area don’t know it happened.
