CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Cubs are partnering with Ebony Magazine to present Jackie Robinson Day at Wrigley Field on Monday.
Jackie Robinson Day is recognized throughout Major League Baseball annually on April 15, the day the ballplayer broke the color barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.
But the Cubs were on the road that day and had their game against the New York Yankees cancelled due to rain.
Ebony will display vintage photographs of Robinson and other black professional baseball players at the ballpark Monday.
Johnson Publishing Company’s chairman, publisher and chief executive will be on hand to present Cubs owner Tom Ricketts with a framed photo of Robinson during Monday’s pre-game ceremony.
