ANTHONY, N.M. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a southern New Mexico man who was stabbed while walking home from his job at McDonald’s.

The Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office says deputies found the body of 21-year-old Gilberto Wences in Anthony on Saturday around 11:20 p.m.

Deputies say Wences suffered multiple stab wounds.

Authorities say Wences worked at a McDonald’s restaurant just across the state line in Anthony, Texas.

They say his shift ended at 11 p.m. and he was apparently walking home when an altercation occurred.

Deputies say preliminary evidence indicates Wences ran from the suspect and tried to fight back.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released any details about possible suspects.
