Global defense, security and aerospace company BAE Systems has announced the creation of a new stealth drone for the United Kingdom. “Taranis” is billed as the “most advanced aircraft ever built by U.K. engineers.”

The new unmanned combat drone went through a battery of secret tests last summer and “surpassed all expectations,” Reuters TV reported.

The pilotless, computer-controlled aerial technology is capable of gathering intelligence or launching attacks behind enemy lines.

The drone has a price tab of $300 million and required 1.5 million man hours to complete, Reuters TV reported.
