LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Lafayette’s downtown area has been selected to receive the state’s Cultural District Award for 2014.
The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1qWU0Tc) the selection was made by the Office of Cultural Development.
In a statement, Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne says the award recognizes top efforts to highlight and cultivate Louisiana’s cultural resources.
This year marks the first time downtown Lafayette has received the state award.
Formal recognition ceremonies are planned for Tuesday at the Capitol Park Museum in Baton Rouge.
