ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - The Texas Rangers put outfielder Jim Adduci on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a fractured left little finger.

Texas recalled infielder Luis Sardinas was recalled from Double-A Frisco.

Adduci was injured when he slid headfirst into second base Friday night in a 12-0 win over the Chicago White Sox. He stayed in the game and added two hits after that in his first start of the season, and thought he had just jammed his finger until he woke up Saturday.

“I didn’t even know he was hurt,” manager Ron Washington said, lightheartedly adding, “Maybe he broke it in his sleep.”

The Rangers now have 10 players on the disabled list, five of them on the 60-day list.

The earliest Adduci could return to the active roster is May 4. He is hitting .462 (6 of 13) in his nine games this season and was the only player on the opening day roster without a start until Friday night.

Sardinas, who is looking to make his major league debut, is 20 years old. He would be the youngest player to appear in the majors this season.
