ATLANTA (AP) - Police say they’ve recovered a car belonging to the clerk of the Georgia House of Representatives after it was stolen outside the Georgia Capitol.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (https://bit.ly/QmWyz7) that Bill Reilly’s 1993 Chevy Suburban was found Wednesday evening on Windsor Street in Atlanta. The driver’s side window was broken and the ignition had been hot-wired.
Thieves had stolen the car — along with some expensive ski equipment inside — from Reilly’s parking spot at the curb of the Capitol on Monday afternoon.
Investigators have video showing two men breaking into the car and driving away.
The theft of Reilly’s vehicle comes just more than two years after the State Patrol beefed up security and a created a new post on Capitol Hill following a 2012 carjacking.
