COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour will be a featured speaker at the Ohio GOP’s annual dinner in Columbus.
The state Republican Party says Barbour will join Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) as speakers for its May 10 event.
Kasich is seeking re-election to a second term this November. Barbour campaigned for him in Ohio during his 2010 run.
In 2012, Kasich talked up Barbour as a possible presidential candidate, but the former Republican national chairman decided not to run. There has been national speculation that Kasich could position himself for a 2016 run with a convincing re-election this year.
Ohio’s Democratic Party has announced that former President Bill Clinton will highlight its annual dinner in Columbus on June 13.
