BOSTON (AP) - A Ware man has pleaded guilty to fraudulently collecting more than $50,000 in Social Security disability payments while working an $80,000-per-year job.

Carl Lynch pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to a charge of theft of public money.

Prosecutors say the 43-year-old Lynch began receiving disability payments under Social Security in 2003. Four years later, while still receiving disability payments, Lynch began working as a personal care attendant for an elderly man in Rehoboth. His income from that job made him ineligible for Social security payments.

Authorities say he used another man’s identity to collect the money.

He is scheduled to be sentenced June 22.
