RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - House Speaker Thom Tillis now plans to join three other North Carolina Republican U.S. Senate candidates in a second televised debate next week.
Tillis’ campaign said Friday that he will now participate in the half-hour debate scheduled for the WRAL studios in Raleigh next Wednesday.
The campaign said previously he had another long-standing commitment, but spokesman Jordan Shaw told the station (https://bit.ly/1mdWQps) Friday that Tillis cleared his calendar to participate.
The decision means four candidates - Tillis, Greg Brannon, Heather Grant and Mark Harris - will be on live TV debates on two successive nights. The four were already set to appear this coming Tuesday in an hour-long debate on the Davidson College campus to be broadcast by Time Warner Cable News.
