NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee arts organizations are receiving more than $995,000 in the National Endowment for the Arts’ latest round of giving.

According to the endowment, more than $750,000 will go to the Tennessee Arts Commission to support partnership activities.

Friends of the Cumberland Trail, in Caryville, is receiving $35,000 for a folk arts project, while the Carpetbag Theatre, in Knoxville, is receiving $30,000 to support a project for veterans and their families.

Grants in Nashville include $50,000 for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s arts education program, $10,000 for the Southern Festival of Books and $30,000 for the Nashville Children’s Theatre. The Nashville Shakespeare Festival, Nashville Opera, Nashville Symphony Association, Nashville Civic Design Center, and Musician’s Corner at Centennial Park each will receive grants of between $10,000 and $20,000.
