SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in San Jose say cadaver dogs have not found any human remains so far in the rubble of a former television news station that was destroyed by fire.
The building in downtown San Jose was being used for shelter by the homeless before the weekend fire.
San Jose Fire Capt. Rob Brown said Thursday what appear to be the remains of a small dog were found, but no human remains.
Santa Clara County prosecutors have charged 55-year-old Stillman Pfeffer, of San Jose, with arson and first-degree burglary in connection with the five-alarm fire. The fire gutted the former KNTV building.
Pfeffer, who is homeless, did not enter a plea during his arraignment hearing on Wednesday. He is being held without bail.
