DETROIT (AP) - A woman and her boyfriend whose argument authorities say led to a high-speed chase and an expressway crash that killed four people in Detroit are charged with second-degree murder.
Police say 24-year-old JeQuis Mayes was speeding ahead of 28-year-old Erroll Milliner when Mayes’ car flew off an embankment and crashed onto Interstate 94 and hit a pickup truck on Sept. 22, 2013. The crash killed Mayes’ 20-year-old passenger, Dkeya Hodges of Eastpointe.
It also killed 52-year-old Angie Battle of Detroit, 66-year-old Rosie Glenn of Las Vegas and 71-year-old Jimmie Barnett of Farmington. They were members of the Outcast Motorcycle Club who’d just attended a wedding on Belle Isle.
Mayes and Milliner were arraigned Friday in Romulus District Court. WDIV-TV reports they requested court-appointed lawyers.
