HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - A man wanted in connection with a killing in suburban Atlanta has been arrested in Alabama.

The Hoover Police Department says officers took 39-year-old Marcus Lamont Payne into custody shortly before 11 a.m. Friday. Police had been notified he had family in Hoover and had been on the lookout for him. He was spotted leaving an apartment Friday morning.

Police say Payne faces an arrest warrant for murder in connection with a shooting Wednesday night in the parking lot of a convenience store in Union City, Ga. The shooting killed 39-year-old Evan Campbell and injured a woman.

Capt. Jim Coker says Payne is being held at the Hoover jail pending extradition to Georgia.
