DETROIT (AP) - The stories behind Detroit’s Eastern Market will be shared by an expert and an official with the longtime open-air public market and adjacent district.

The Friday evening lecture will feature preservation advocate and tour guide Lisa Rush and Randall Fogelman, Eastern Market Corp.’s vice president of business development.

They will talk about the market’s beginnings on cemetery land on the outskirts of town through the current residential and business redevelopment of the district’s historic structures.

The talk will be held at Mackenzie House, located on Cass Avenue and part of the Wayne State University Historic District. The historic building is the headquarters for the nonprofit Preservation Detroit, which hosts monthly lectures.
