ATLANTA (AP) - Forecasters say high winds and heavy rains are expected across much of Georgia.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory warning of gusts up to 35 mph.
The advisory, which will be in effect from 1 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday, covers much of central Georgia and part of north Georgia, including all of metro Atlanta. Cities in the advisory include Macon, Rome, Gainesville, Athens, LaGrange, Columbus, Americus, Dublin and Vidalia.
The weather service said rainfall amounts of 1.5 inch to 3 inches are possible across central Georgia, with lesser amounts in north Georgia.
Some of the highest rain fall amounts — around 3 inches — are expected along the Interstate 75 corridor south of Macon.
