SAN LUIS, Ariz. (AP) - Border Patrol agents caught a group of Guatemalans who illegally crossed the U.S.-Mexico border on one side of San Luis and a group of Romanians on the other.

Yuma Sector spokesman Douglas Choi (choy) says the groups separately crossed the border in southwestern Arizona on Thursday.

He says the four Guatemalans got over the three-fence barrier on the east side of San Luis, probably using ladders provided by smugglers.

According to Choi, the five Romanians crossed the border through the bed of the Colorado River on the west side of San Luis.

Choi says Mexican nationals still account for large numbers of illegal crossings in the Yuma Sector but that there’s also a stream of people from other places, including Central America, South America, India and Romania.
