A Florida man was arrested and charged with third-degree murder on Friday for allegedly suffocating his 16-month-old son to death. The reason: He wanted to play Xbox video games undisturbed.

Cody Wygant, 24, was angered by his son’s crying at 1:00 a.m. Thursday, so he used his hand to suffocate the boy, Reuters reported. Mr. Wygant told investigators that after his son Daymeon passed out, he then covered the child with multiple layers of bedding.

“It is inconceivable that a father could kill his infant son — it just baffles the mind,” Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy said in a statement.

Mr. Wygant, whose criminal history includes rape charges, had recently moved to Homosassa, Fla., from California, Reuters reported.

A judge on Friday set bond at $100,000.
