LONDON (AP) - Britain will be without its top female player at Wimbledon after Laura Robson announced she is having surgery on her injured left wrist.

The 64th-ranked Robson says in a short announcement on her Facebook page on Thursday that she will miss the French Open and Wimbledon.

Robson, 20, last year became the first British woman to reach the round of 16 at Wimbledon since 1998, helping her reach a career high of No. 27 in the world rankings.

Robson won the girls’ singles title at Wimbledon in 2008.
