As pro-Russian forces continue to wreak havoc across eastern Ukraine, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Thursday that the U.S. will send the country non-lethal aid.
Mr. Hagel said at a Pentagon press conference that supplies for Ukrainian troops would include helmets, sleeping mats, water purification units and small power generators, Fox News reported.
U.S., Russian and Ukrainian officials are meeting in Geneva on Thursday to try to find a diplomatic way to diffuse the ongoing crisis.
Currently, the Obama administration is withholding other forms of non-lethal aid, which includes body armor and night-vision goggles, Fox News reported. The White House is not “actively considering” supplying Ukraine with lethal assistance, the news channel added.
