MIAMI (AP) - The Miami innovation cheerleader eMerge Americas and the national organization Techweek are looking for the best tech-based solutions to address local community needs.
The organizations are co-sponsoring a Hackathon May 2-4 at the University of Miami. Applicants will be judged on their presentation, program sophistication, and of course, how well it works. Top winners will collect $20,000 in cash, thanks to Amazon Web services and Wexford Science and Technology. eMerge Americas is led by Miami entrepreneur Miami Medina and is looking to remake Miami into the tech hub of the Americas. Partner Techweek launched its first innovators conference in 2011 in Chicago. It seeks to showcase emerging tech ecosystems in cities nationwide and is co-hosting Miami’s conference this year May 1 through May7.
