TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Tulsa County crime victims and survivors are scheduled to be honored later this month with a day of remembrance and flower planting in honor of lost loved ones.

Organizers say the April 30 event at the Buddy LaFortune Community Center in south Tulsa allows family and friends to gather and plant a flower in memory of lost loved ones, view photo tributes and comfort each other.

Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris says the event sends a message to families that the community hasn’t forgotten about victims of violent crime, even though they may not be in news headlines anymore.
